I am your flower. Tears of morning dew coalesce and fall As pellucid watery pellets from white petals. Among sable spines I bloom, only for guests to cower Away and curse with a cold glower, spurning all I bring For shadows swathe me in the bower. Traveller, my thorns you will see. You will grimace, a scowl seeps into your face’s every crevice, At contorted stems that bode you no ill. Neither crown of laurels nor sweetness of fruit can I give thee. After winter chills you and me, I lend pale petals in the earliest of spring While you turn away and flee.

The little bakery on the corner is just so sweet Offering every passer-by a little treat Who cannot stop and try a morsel, a bite? It is so delicious, it just feels so right. The chocolates, the croissants, the bread The aroma of it all that no one seems to dread The cakes, the muffins, the pies Who dares not to try?
